Hi friends!
Today we are going to discuss one of everyone's favorite questions when coming to visit the Rainbow River for the first time. That's what is the best way to experience it? The two most common ways involve tons of questions on how to experience both so we are here to help you out! Being the longest running small business on the Rainbow River for over 25 years, we have you covered!
When you're wanting to visit the Rainbow most people are wanting to do one of two things: tube or kayak! Today we'll tell you the differences and pros and cons of both. We'll also tell you best places to launch or take a shuttle service for either experience depending on your preference!
Kayaking:
Pros: You're in control! You have a paddle and can easily get yourself wherever you want to be. Paddle against the current to get to your favorite spring vent or pull off spot. Avoid any mid-summer rain storm easier when you can paddle faster. Paddle as fast or as slow as you want. Bring snacks and drinks in reusable containers, your phone, a bag, and other necessities with the ability to keep them dry! Don't have to remain in the 72 degree water your entire trip but can get in and out as you prefer.
Cons: Less time in the water. More physical work (but a great workout!).
Where to rent: Rainbow River Canoe and Kayak's shuttle service, KP Hole County Park (first come, first serve), Rainbow Springs State Park (reservation required)
Tubing:
Pros: In the water the whole time! One with nature. Easier to swim and snorkel. More relaxation, less physical activity.
Cons: Harder to navigate other boats, kayakers, etc. No dry storage. Less control over where you are.
Where to rent: KP Hole County Park (3-4 hour trip), Rainbow Springs State Park (2-3 hours trip)
Whichever option you pick, the Rainbow Spring is an amazing place to check out! With over 100 different spring vents and 1000 different sand boils, there are tons of places to snorkel and explore the natural beauty of our river.
Don't forget! The Rainbow River does have a no disposable, no alcohol law so any food and drinks must be in reusable containers.
Rainbow River Canoe and Kayak does offer 10% off with a reservation of a canoe, kayak, or paddle board! Make your plans to come see us and enjoy Florida's fourth largest spring in Dunnellon, Florida!
